Coolbellup Community Association are your independent residents group in Cooby. We’ve been around since 2 February 1983.
In 2019 we became a Town Team which just means we can partner more easily with businesses, residents and local government. And access more $ for our suburb!

We are Cooby residents who love living, working, running businesses, bringing up family, connecting with others (sometimes all at the same time) right here in Cooby.
Membership is free and we have a newsletter list of members that sometimes we actually send an e-news too!
We are all volunteers with a focus on making our beautiful suburb even better.

Each financial year, City of Cockburn provides $30,000 for Resident Groups to undertake projects in their suburb. This replaces the normal grants you can find on the City of Cockburn website. In 2024-25 we have used it for two Cooby Fests, more plastics machine moulds (see below) and the peppermint trees in the jarrah planters out the front of Cooby CoWork. This year, so far, we have set aside funding to run the Inside Out 2 film night in February, six weeks of Noongar lessons coming up soon, printing I Heart Cooby t-shirts, developing our plastics workshops and beautifying projects in our shopping centre area. Contact us on coobyca@gmail.com or via Facebook or Instagram if you have any questions or suggestions.
Plastics Workshops
In 2023 we received a Lotterywest grant to purchase two machines -a shredder and an extruder, and together they allow us to recycle plastic bottle tops into objects using a mould - or generating plastic thread which can be used to weave items. On the second Saturday of the month at Cooby Co-Work we are running sessions to turn our milk carton lids into things!

There’s been a slight delay for west Coolbellup to get underground power. We’re finally in the queue to get the rest of our suburb on underground power! Western Power has advised that construction work is estimated to start in the second half of 2028 and be finished mid 2029. You can keep an eye out on this page.
The Cockburn Community Infrastructure Plan 2024-2041 is now complete. Tempest Park Redevelopment (page 10) is already approved to (slowly) progress. The Coolbellup Community Facilities Master Plan (Len Packham and the Cooby Hub) is second on the list of proposed new projects (page 38)
Right now there is a consultation on the updated Tempest Park Concept Plan - Vision Three - the third option with a greater number of change rooms has got our vote!
